SERVING OUR COMMUNITY

Canyon Creek reaches out to the community through a variety of local and worldwide ministries. Contact the liaison for each ministry listed below for more information or get in touch with Michelle Kiriakos about the Mercy-Missions Committee.

Gospel for Asia
Gospel for Asia's vision is to train and send native missionaries into the most unreached areas of Asia. By God's grace, 16,500 native missionaries are now serving and planting 10 churches every day. Gospel for Asia operates 54 Bible colleges on the Indian subcontinent, where 9,000 students are training for full-time ministry. You can help sponsor an Asian brother or sister for $30 per month – 100% goes directly to the field! For more information visit www.gfa.org or contact Bobi Vieira.

Harbor House Ministries
Located in Oakland, Harbor House expresses the love of Jesus to disadvantaged youth, immigrants and low-income famlies through after-school and summer programs for childen and teens, adult ESL classes, and emergency food and clothing. A number of Canyon Creek people are involved as tutors and our Men's Ministry hosts periodic workdays.

Home of New Beginnings
Located in Thailand, Home of New Beginnings serves women exploited by the sex trade. The ministry provides a home where they can escape, heal, learn a trade, obtain education, and come to know Jesus, the One who loves them. Canyon Creek holds periodic craft fairs featuring the beautiful hand-crafted products made by the home's residents. Contact Priscilla Rose for more information.

Moms in Prayer, Dougherty Valley Chapter
Moms in Prayer (MIP) is an international ministry that brings together mothers to pray for their children and schools. Canyon Creek will form a Dougherty Valley Chapter this October covering these schools: Coyote Creek, Hidden Hills, Quail Run, LIve Oak, Gale Ranch Middle, Windemere Hiddle, Dougherty Valley High, and Venture High. Consider meeting with other moms this October to pray on Monday mornings from 9-10 AM. To sign up or inquire about other local MIP chapters, contact Michelle Kiriakos.

Operation Christmas Child
Canyon Creek collected more than 360 gift boxes during the 2011 Operation Christmas Child gift drive. This annual effort sponsored by Samaritan's Purse shares the love of Jesus with children worldwide through shoeboxes filled with simple Christmas gifts. The 2012 gift drive starts in October. Contact Nicki Rosenberg to help out!

Shepherd’s Gate
Since 1984, more than 8,000 battered and homeless women and children have found a safe haven from abusive relationships, addictions, loss of financial support and other factors at Shepherd’s Gate. The ministry operates campuses in Livermore and Brentwood, as well as an international outreach in San Jose, Costa Rica. Shepherd’s Gate is supported entirely by private donations. Canyon Creek teams prepare dinner for the Livermore shelter once a month. You also can help year around by praying for this ministry. Please contact Lisa Alexandrian to get involved.

Valley Pregnancy Center
Canyon Creek supports the work of Valley Pregnancy Center by sponsoring a team of walkers in the annual Walk for Life each spring and filling a table at its “Celebration of Life” Gala in the fall. Several individuals also volunteer on a regular basis. The Center holds training sessions for lay counselors and other volunteers. To chat about how you can get involved, contact Renee Olsen.

World Vision
Last December nearly 50 members and friends of Canyon Creek Church supported World Vision by running or walking in the Walnut Creek Half Marathon and 5K. They raised over $26,000 for World Vision programs that provide clean water for our African neighbors in need. To join our 2012 team contact Kirsten Stearns.

SERVING OUR COMMMUNITY

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
