FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What is the history of Canyon Creek Church? Our founding pastor, Lewis Ruff, and his wife, Cornelia, moved their family to the San Ramon Valley in the spring of 1988. They came with a vision for a new community-oriented, biblically based church that would be relevant to the needs of people living in this rapidly growing area. For the first year, the church met at the San Ramon Valley Dance Academy. The congregation soon outgrew that facility, and in 1989 moved to Golden View Elementary School. In June of 1994, Canyon Creek moved to an office building on Fostoria Way. Soon thereafter, Lewis Ruff founded a new church in Oakland and Marty Scales became our Senior Pastor. In November of 2006, Canyon Creek moved into its own facility in the Dougherty Valley. What is current attendance? More than 300 people attend our Sunday service each week. On average, about 85 children attend Sunday morning classes for pre-kindergarten through junior high, and 55-70 junior high and high school youth attend weeknight meetings. What denomination is Canyon Creek Church? Canyon Creek Church is affiliated with the Presbyerian Church in America. Please click here for more information on what we believe. What is Canyon Creek Korean Church? Canyon Creek Korean Church (CCKC) is a newly planted congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America serving the Korean-speaking community in the Tri-valley.
